this thunderstorm became very intense over the course of the evening and unfortunately damaged part of the Chablais grape harvest.
By the way, the photo was taken just under an hour after the shot from Lavaux (image 7368).

we really seem to have the same ideas. The photo was taken on our balcony. This summer, although we didn't plant any, we have sunflowers everywhere. They naturally attract nectar-seeking insects.

a very well-executed shot. I can understand the effort it took to photograph the bloom like this. Even a slight breeze can ruin the photo in a fraction of the exposure time.
I sometimes use strong sheets as windbreaks. During my plant observations, I always carry laminated (waterproof) quadrant cards, which help as wind protection in light wind.

Thanks for the comments; a rainy day, and instead of a scenic cliff hike, we took a bus tour – and once again I managed to capture an atmospheric image, one rarely found on a postcard.
By the way, we suspect the mouse hole is on the right side: a rather narrow harbor entrance...

this red guest in your garden is called a lily beetle and is the most common lily pest in Europe. As the name suggests, it feeds on various types of lilies but also on lily of the valley, crown imperial, and onions. They can develop up to three generations. The only remedy is regular handpicking of larvae (you can find them under the leaves and they are red-colored). Otherwise, the beetle will eat the food meant for your snails.

Yes Stefan, that is probably what you call natural pest control. But Hans wouldn't be happy if the birds ate all the snails. After all, snails are among his favorite subjects.
