Simply great. But let's be honest. You can't just get there that easily. When did you set out in the morning for this shot?

Hello Andre! Thank you very much for your lovely comments! As far as I remember, I left my apartment here at around 4:45 AM, and the sunrise was just before 7:00 AM. The hike through the pitch-black Bodetal alone was beautiful, and then the morning glow – breathtaking... Thanks to you...

And now it is a historic shot! The ski jump is gone, the summit has lost its trademark!
Fred Hahn 22.2.2016 23:51 22.2.2016 23:51
Thanks, André! Yes, the summit of Wurmberg is somehow disfigured, if not castrated. I hadn’t seen it that way before; I used to think the other way around, that those strange structures like ski jumps, observation towers, transmission masts, etc., disfigured the natural character of the mountains. Now that the ski jump is gone from Wurmberg, I feel differently – the mountain is missing something. Hopefully, the observation tower, which is supposedly planned, will be built. Without it, a visit up there doesn’t make sense; the summit is forested, and without the tower, you don’t get the great view you can have on clear days up there... Best regards

Trees and the Harz! Fred's favorite subject ;-) That really catches the eye and you captured it well. It's nice to see something from my old homeland again.
Best regards from Denmark

A really beautiful spot, Jeanny, hopefully winter will soon make room on the bench for others...

Many thanks to both of you for the kind words, which I was very happy to receive.
With this shot, I was lucky that no one had left their tracks in the snow yet.
Spring will make sure that others will have space on the bench again.
Best regards
Jeanny

Christine, looking at this photo gives me a lot of joy!
I was actually supposed to be in your homeland this week. But I am still stuck in dreadful Denmark. I hope that after Easter I can finally be back at beloved La Dole :-)

Hello André,
thanks for your comment.
As you have probably noticed by now, the weather here is not much better than in gloomy Denmark.
But it is slowly getting better as soon as the wind finally changes...
Regards, Christine

Hello Gerd
By chance, I see this beautiful image. Incredible, these colorful flags on the ship and the matching rainbow – like in a painting.
Regards, Heinz

Hello Heinz,
Thank you for the comment and a belated thanks to Helmut. Unfortunately, I didn't have a "wide-angle" with me.

When I was 15 years old, I had the opportunity (with similar solar activity in 1988) to make such observations as part of the Astro Club at my school. Today, I only try to photograph the results of coronal plasma eruptions through auroras. What I feel so sorry about in this network is the fact that every silly red locomotive gets commented on, but such a gem, which is photographed with a lot of effort, goes unnoticed :-(
I have a request. Please continue with your photo eyepiece! I also have three wishes. What fascinated me back then was observing Jupiter with its equatorial clouds, Saturn with its ring, and simply the Moon. Can you photograph that with your optics? That would be great.
Best regards, André

Hello Ivie,
Thank you very much for your kind comment.
I am very pleased that you like the shot so much.
Thanks to the good results of these pages in the search engines, the advertising for a region certainly does not come up short.
Best regards to Saarland

Hello Erhard,
a very beautiful and extremely interesting shot.
Then you could see all the way to Schengen from here, if I interpret the geography correctly.

Schengen is located in the valley, but the direction is correct. You can see the nuclear power plant in Cattenom and the RTL transmission mast in Dudelange.

Hello Erhard,
then basically a circle closes, there are some spots in the Ösling (e.g. Bourscheid, Grevels), where we can also see the Cattenom nuclear power plant and the transmission mast in Dudelange.
Best regards from Luxembourg.

Hello Erhard,
very beautiful picture.
However, I would have categorized it under Cities-Photos-Structures-Transmission Towers, as it fits the theme better; the other photo of yours of the transmission mast as well.
Regards, Rainer

@rainer: We live only a few hundred meters from the transmitter, so I have a lot of photos that will also be uploaded to the transmitter facilities section.
Best regards, Erhard
