The DRUIDENSTEIN near BETZDORF-KIRCHEN/SIEG, lava that solidified into columns 25 million years ago, presumably already used by the Celts as a religious cult site. After a lightning strike in 1979, it was secured with steel cables. An impressive natural monument, on 29.12.2015

The SIEG WATERFALL near SCHLADERN with the current winter flood on 3.2.2016. North Rhine-Westphalia's largest waterfall is not of natural origin, but was created during blasting operations for the construction of the Cologne-Gießen railway line in 1857/58. At low water levels, the tiered rock formations can be clearly seen, but during the current flood, enormous volumes of water thunder down... truly impressive!!!
