NATURAL MONUMENT KETZERSTEIN IN THE HIGH WESTERWALD The basalt block group of KETZERSTEIN near WEIßENBURG/WESTERWALD was formed in the TERTIARY, 25-30 million years ago, as a weathered part of an approximately 50 square kilometer basalt cover, partly up to 100 meters thick. In close proximity to the stones, the compass shows fluctuating polarity, presumably due to the high IRON/TITANIUM content—I was able to verify this myself.... Located 610 meters above sea level, the name probably originates from a medieval border crossing, also called KATZE ... a fascinating place, on 6.11.2018

Clearly visible are the workshop halls of the former locomotive forge, next to them the towers of the Catholic and Protestant churches with the mountain ranges of the Westerwald in the background....

Spring in the Sieg Valley between BETZDORF and WISSEN on Father's Day , 5.5.2016 -<br>to the right of the Sieg runs the B62, a narrow suspension bridge leads to the farmhouse on the left bank, and in the background you can see a small viaduct of the SIEGEN-COLOGNE-AACHEN railway line - it is no coincidence that the federal highway 62 is designated here as the Sieg Leisure Road ....
