Simply great. But let's be honest. You can't just get there that easily. When did you set out in the morning for this shot?

Hello Andre! Thank you very much for your lovely comments! As far as I remember, I left my apartment here at around 4:45 AM, and the sunrise was just before 7:00 AM. The hike through the pitch-black Bodetal alone was beautiful, and then the morning glow – breathtaking... Thanks to you...

And now it is a historic shot! The ski jump is gone, the summit has lost its trademark!
Fred Hahn 22.2.2016 23:51 22.2.2016 23:51
Thanks, André! Yes, the summit of Wurmberg is somehow disfigured, if not castrated. I hadn’t seen it that way before; I used to think the other way around, that those strange structures like ski jumps, observation towers, transmission masts, etc., disfigured the natural character of the mountains. Now that the ski jump is gone from Wurmberg, I feel differently – the mountain is missing something. Hopefully, the observation tower, which is supposedly planned, will be built. Without it, a visit up there doesn’t make sense; the summit is forested, and without the tower, you don’t get the great view you can have on clear days up there... Best regards

Hello Fred,
very beautiful photo. I am very fascinated by the Teufelsmauer! Especially the Hamburg coat of arms. It's about time I went on a photo safari in the Harz again. I have long planned to hike to the peculiar rock formations in the Steinmühlental between Rothesütte and Sülzhayn. Do you know them? Even Däniken has researched there. That would also be interesting for you as a painter! I was there once in 2008. The sight almost blew me away!
Best regards from Switzerland

Hello André,
Thank you for your lovely comment! I'm glad you like the photo! The Devil's Wall is truly fascinating and amazing! Unfortunately, I don't know these rock formations between Rothesütte and Sülzhayn yet. Maybe there will be an opportunity sometime... It certainly sounds very exciting, as you describe it.
Thank you, André, and best regards

Fantastically captured in this weather!

Thank you André!
It was somewhat difficult at times because the background disappears into the fog.

Beautiful mystical shot of a legendary landscape! Goethe would surely be thrilled too ;-) I love the hike from the Roßtrappe down into the Bodetal and then up to the Prinzensicht and the Hexentanzplatz. The cable cars make it easy to combine.
Best regards, André

Thank you André,
we used the chairlift, but at the frosty temperatures we were pretty much the only ones. Sunny weather would of course have the advantage that the visibility would be better – especially since you have a very nice view from the Roßtrappe. But such photos are rarer to capture.
Best regards
Christopher

Thank you very much for the comments.
We were also very lucky. During our stay on the island of Kvaløya near Tromsø, there was high solar activity and almost always a clear sky. This allowed us to observe the Northern Lights on seven out of eight nights. They were sometimes very intense.
Best regards
André

As with the mood photo with the sunset, which I already commented on, the clear peaks above the clouds are sensationally highlighted here again. I sometimes experience this when I have the Alps in front of me from the Jura slope. Only the distance to be observed is greater ;-)
Beautiful photo!

Thank you very much, André.
14 days and almost every morning a different mood at sunrise. It was hard for me to choose a picture. Apparently, I uploaded the right image.

I believe you, Jürgen!
But this mood with the hidden sun feels completely different from the usual sunrises and sunsets. It has a very special atmosphere. That's why it immediately caught my eye!

Trees and the Harz! Fred's favorite subject ;-) That really catches the eye and you captured it well. It's nice to see something from my old homeland again.

Many thanks to both of you for the kind words, which I was very happy to receive.
With this shot, I was lucky that no one had left their tracks in the snow yet.
Spring will make sure that others will have space on the bench again.
Best regards

Christine, looking at this photo gives me a lot of joy!
I was actually supposed to be in your homeland this week. But I am still stuck in dreadful Denmark. I hope that after Easter I can finally be back at beloved La Dole :-)

Hello André,
thanks for your comment.
As you have probably noticed by now, the weather here is not much better than in gloomy Denmark.
But it is slowly getting better as soon as the wind finally changes...

Hello Gerd
By chance, I see this beautiful image. Incredible, these colorful flags on the ship and the matching rainbow – like in a painting.
