On the Rheinpreußen slag heap in Moers stands this approximately 30m high Geleucht, which commemorates the values and historical history of mining. The artwork, designed by the light artist Otto Piene, contains over 60 light fixtures. We have already planned a visit in the darkness to experience this light spectacle once. 12.05.2008

During a walk in Düsseldorf's Ständehauspark on 11.05.2008, I was made aware of these three red-eared slider turtles that had made themselves comfortable on a small island of some plant debris in the Swan Pond, probably to enjoy the sun. They certainly do not belong there, perhaps released? The image was taken with full optical zoom combined with digital enlargement, so unfortunately the image quality is not completely optimal.
