A partial view of the horizon observatory, which was constructed on the northern summit plateau of the Hohe Ward spoil tip. The meridian and equator arcs have a radius of just under 46m, the steel pipes themselves have a diameter of 1.41m and a wall thickness of 18 to 50mm.
