Deepener Heath between Scheeßel & Schneverdingen. The heath today extends over several districts and is not limited to the nature reserve in the center. It is always a pleasure to come across even the tiniest gem. This area is only a few hundred meters long, yet it fulfills every cliché; alongside junipers and glacial erratics, we also find a fairly large bee shelter. The obligatory bench, of course, is not missing here either :-)

The first signs of spring also in the Heiderand area near Scheeßel, the dull gray slowly gives way to a delicate green. The clouds in April often create atmospheric images.<br> The Wümme weir near the watermill is also the provisional endpoint for canoeists. Those who paddle downstream to this point must get out on the other side of the road and carry the boat across the street; on the left in the picture are the steps where the canoes are relaunched into the water, only then can they continue their tour to Rotenburg. End of April 2021

In the past, the heath landscape extended over large areas of northern Germany. Even the rural culture has been preserved here, just as in the central heath. Thus, there are still thatched traditional houses and sheepfolds here, reaching as far as Sittensen deep into the district of Rotenburg. End of August 2020.

Framed by the Wümme lowlands on one side and the B 75 on the other. There is also a parking lot by the road. August 2019.

The Jeersdorfer Heath is a foundation. The area is hardly larger than a football field. It is lovingly maintained every year. In the past, the heath stretched all the way to the A1 motorway; in Sittensen, there is still a local heritage house and a local heritage association, where the old heath tradition is remembered. Today, we mainly associate heath with the Lüneburg Heath Nature Reserve, but there are still many smaller heath areas, including in the Rotenburg district and the Winsen/Luhe district. This photo was taken in August 2014.
