Land of the open distances ; the forest on the edge of the national park trail between Silberteich and Hahnenkleeklippen, formerly a monotonous spruce plantation, has completely restructured since the founding of the national park in the 1990s. From the once dense spruce monocultures, only a few gnarled trees remain here, along with numerous deciduous trees, between which the view can wander all the way to the mountains of the southern Harz; photo taken in the late afternoon of 15.11.2018
