Well, Christine: a successful experiment. It seems to be a reflection of a lamp or another curved object...

Hello Thomas, Heinz, and Helmut,
thank you for your comments. The idea for this photo came about during a brief stop in Frankfurt while toasting at the Römer two years ago: http://www.staedte-fotos.de/name/einzelbild/number/15417/kategorie/Deutschland~Hessen~Frankfurt+am+Main.html
Best regards, Christine

@Helmut: you are of course right. And I thought way too far ahead - when it is so obvious...
Thanks + regards, Heinz

Now that's something from the "Artistically valuable" corner! Great photo!

Many thanks, André.
The funniest thing about the shots was the people walking by who didn’t quite know what to make of it. It was definitely a lot of fun, and the results are, as you can see, partly very well done.
Best regards, Christine

Hello André,
many thanks for the praise and suggestion. Since we have already made the selection for the 2012 calendar, it is quite possible that we will actually use this photo for 2013.
Greetings from Blonay

Hey Klaus, you really nailed the industrial behemoth! Absolutely brutal! Beautiful! I love stuff like that!

Good luck André,
I'm glad you like the picture. It actually sounds crazy, but someday such a shot will be a document of times gone by, as more and more heavy industry disappears from the region.
Best regards, Klaus

What now? The misery doesn't only exist in the Harz?! I thought the place name was unique. Although I know that the name is derived from the term "stranger"...
rainer ullrich 14.9.2011 17:09 14.9.2011 17:09
Hello Andre,
so that the "misery" doesn't become too great, the districts are even divided into Vorderes Elend (Front Misery) and Hinteres Elend (Back Misery).

Hello Heinz,
looking down there almost makes me dizzy,
a great view and an impressive shot.

Kind of you, Christine - many thanks for your comments.
Speaking of dizziness: you reach the top viewing platform via a staircase made of metal grating. I know people who cannot step on it because you have to be free of vertigo to do so...
;-)

I love this lake!
Since we always saw the lights high up on the mountain opposite from Eblingen (on the right shore) in the evenings, we once drove to where this small bright spot is. Probably the roof of a mountain hotel. From there we had a great view over the lake and Brienz towards the Rothorn.

I just discovered such subjects in your gallery on your website. The paintings look great. But now a question. What is more difficult to realize, such a forest motif photographically or painterly? I have been interested in this for a long time.
I have been dealing with the question for a long time. Is it more difficult to translate a subject into a photo or into a painting?
For example, today was such a fantastic day that Mont Blanc appeared right behind Geneva. Around 8:00 PM it was the "Mt. Rouge." But I had to work and had no opportunity to capture it as a suitable photographic motif. Tomorrow I want to hike up the 1718m high Crêt de Neige. It will probably be dull then and I will no longer have this clear view over Lake Geneva, Geneva, the Rhône-Alpes all the way to Mont Blanc. But I imagine that you painters could combine both motifs (clear and dull) into one. Am I wrong?
Best regards

Yes, Helmut, it is indeed a beautiful, peaceful spot. Next to the mill, there is an excellent small restaurant with a lovely terrace, where you can wonderfully end the day.
Best regards
Jeanny
