The photo shows the last of the ten information boards of the Heinrich Heine Trail. On this board, which is located on the Brocken, you can read a part of the book 'The Harz Journey' (1824) by Heinrich Heine, in which he talks about the Brocken.
The text reads: 'The Brocken is a German. With German thoroughness, it shows us, clearly and distinctly, like a giant panorama, the many hundreds of small towns and villages, mostly lying to the north, and all around the mountains, forests, rivers infinitely far.'

A monument to the writer Heinrich Heine (1797-1856) on the Heinrich-Heine-Weg from Ilsenburg to the Brocken.
The text, part of his book 'Die Harzreise' (1824), reads: 'I am Princess Ilse and live in the Ilsestein. Come with me to my castle, we shall be blissful.'
