Woodland near Nunkirchen/Saar, former forest, which has been returned to nature. Beautiful hiking trails run through the forest here; photo taken in the afternoon of 09.06.2013...
Unfortunately, this area returned to nature no longer exists, as it has been sacrificed to the ever-expanding golf course, like so much landscape in this place, even though it is already one of the largest in all of Germany. Sadly, people here seem to have no awareness or appreciation for wild nature and biodiversity; maximum profit, maximum joy for golfers, and the aesthetics of the vast lawn monoculture with small groups of deciduous trees are obviously more important to them. What a pity!! And how sad in times of, for example, the enormous insect die-off...

Fog on 03.10.2010 over the Nunkircher Wiesental. Meanwhile, the sun has risen above the mountains and its light floods into the valley. The fog is gradually dissipating and in the background, the western mountains of the Hunsrück, the "Schwarzwälder Hochwald," become visible.
