Despite the frosty and gloomy weather, there was a good long-distance view towards the West Harz from Brocken on 27.12.2014. In the center of the image are the Lerchenköpfe, on whose two summits the radio towers of the Torfhaus transmitter are located. At the foot of the left transmitter is the small settlement of Torfhaus, which mainly serves as a recreational area and starting point for hikes. On the left in the foreground, the route of the Brocken Railway briefly appears between the trees, which has been leading to the Brocken summit since 1898. 
