Flooded tidal flat path to Mandø - a Danish island in the Wadden Sea. Especially in the winter months from December to January, wind speeds at the North Sea easily reach 11 / 12 on the Beaufort scale during a hurricane low-pressure system, which is nothing unusual for us coastal residents. However, the path to Mandø can become completely impassable in such cases, so the only option is to wait for better weather. Photo taken on September 2, 2006. 

The tidal flat path at Mandø in the Danish Wadden Sea. Mandø can be reached by car via the Låningsvej, a kind of causeway that is not passable during normal high tide because it consists only of shallowly piled gravel and is reinforced by groynes. In addition to the tides, the passability also depends on the prevailing wind – with strong westerly winds, the period around low tide during which the Låningsvej is passable is significantly shorter. Ebb tide path to the Danish island Mandø in the Wadden Sea (Southern Jutland). Driving is only possible at low tide because despite the dike, there is more or less high water twice daily during high tide. This depends not only on the normal tide but also on changing wind conditions, the season, and the presence of a full or new moon. Photo taken: September 2, 2006. 

Clean energy generation in the light of the setting sun.<br>On the edge of the Fehmarn Belt between the island of Fehmarn and the Danish island of Lolland, about ten kilometers south of Nysted, lies the Rødsand I offshore wind farm. Here, on an area of 24 km², 72 wind turbines with a capacity of 166 MW are installed. The towers are 69 meters high, and each of the three rotor blades is 41 meters long. The foundation of each of these wind turbines alone weighs 1,800 tons, and the tower with the nacelle, generator, and rotor blades weighs another 250 tons.
