Normally a small, tranquil stream, the Niers has swollen significantly due to the heavy rainfall in recent days and is currently flowing quite swiftly past Grefrath. The photo was taken on 10.08.2007. 

A small flock of sheep is frolicking by the Niers near Grefrath. While the older animals are primarily busy drinking, the lamb looks curiously in my direction. The photo was taken on 10.08.2007. 

Could it be more typical? Lower Rhine idyll. A shepherd leads his flock along the Niers towards Grefrath. On the right is the flood-carrying Niers, on the left is the small airfield "Niershorst". The photo was taken on a gray August 10, 2007. 

View over the Rhine at Duisburg-Walsum. The weather was very unpleasant, with black clouds and frequent rain showers, which really did not encourage activities outside enclosed spaces.
