A strange mushroom is the ink cap - it is virtually consumed by its own juice, while the mushroom spores drip to the ground and thus the mushroom reproduces. The photo was taken in September 2005 near Lauterstein in the Ore Mountains.

Only about 5 meters separated me from this deer as it scratched its head, yet it didn't sense me because I was sitting still above it on a raised stand! The photo was taken in March 2005 in the Chemnitz Valley near Wittgensdorf.

Taking advantage of the first tentative rays of the spring sun, these two roe deer rest in March 2005 in the Chemnitz Küchwald. This is especially important for these animals, as they find hardly any peace from joggers and, above all, irresponsible dog owners in the Küchwald. Only a small percentage leash their dogs – the vast majority let them run freely in violation of regulations, and often the roe deer are chased by them – I have observed this several times! Apparently, only drastic penalties help here – nowadays, one can unfortunately no longer appeal to people's reason.
