View of the Blumenau Mill on the Saale River. In 2011, a viewing platform was inaugurated at Wachhügel near Pottiga. The platform stands at an elevation of 472 m directly on the steeply sloping hillside of the Saale Valley. Visitors are treated to a magnificent panorama. They can see the Saale River and the Blumenau Mill right at their feet. From the platform, the view extends far into the former border area between East and West Germany (Thuringia-Bavaria), which was separated for three decades by the Iron Curtain. 01.08.2012 Pottiga/Saale-Orla District
