However, we were rewarded on our 10 km walk, entirely on foot without any means of transport, with stunning views. After about 3.5 km, we reached Lake Geroldsee. Hike to Wildensee - On 06.10.2014, we went up to Wildensee near Mittenwald.
In Klais/Mittenwald Am Quicken, a path leads up to the lake through the training area of the Mittenwald mountain infantry. Outside of training times, the area may be entered, but there are no signposts and you have to plan your hike in advance. The lake is located at 1136 meters below the Kranzberg, with the starting point in Klais at about 930 meters. The lake has an area of approximately 2.3 hectares. Here is the view of the Soiern group of the Karwendel mountains.
Along the way, you reach an altitude of about 1200 meters. After two hours of almost continuous uphill, this view makes the effort worthwhile. 06.10.2014

The Schmalensee is a lake near Mittenwald. It is approximately seven hectares in size and only 2.5 meters deep at its deepest point. The lake is privately owned and inhabited by many fish species.

The lake is located directly on the state road between Mittenwald and Klais at the Buckelwiesen. It can also be seen from the railway line from Garmisch-Partenkirchen to Mittenwald.
