Hello Helmut, in Torgelow (Hem) we only had cirrostratus clouds during the solar eclipse (images 1 & 2 from the left). At that time, I was able to observe the event from the warm apartment by the window.

Hello Gerd, great shot. Here - I am currently on the Isle of Man - unfortunately it was cloudy, but incredibly dark.

We also really like the excellent shots of the partial solar eclipse, Gerd.

Hi Hans-Gerd,
even if I can hardly open my eyes early in the morning, I become wide awake with such a subject.
Thanks for looking in.

Thanks Rolf, somehow I was still hoping for something "flying" in front of the sun, but you can't have everything.

Hello Gerd,
there is a song: "Fly me to the moon". Maybe they are on their way there? An extraordinary image that I really like.
Best regards
Hans-Gerd

As if the old "Franky Boy" already knew back then that I am moonstruck. Yes, but no one will fly me there.
Thank you, Hans-Gerd

Great shot, I really like it, Gerd. I would have just chosen a different crop to show the sun filling the frame.
Greetings from Aachen,
Mario

Hi Mario, thanks for the critique and the tip, then I'll dig out my unloved Russian barrel again.
Cheers GW

Beautiful. I could just "howl"! "yowl"! at the many moon pictures!

What a stroke of luck that there are also enough pictures of sunrises here, so you can fortunately transform back from the werewolf. Glad to hear, Fred, that there are also some funny commentators.
Cheers, GW

When I was 15 years old, I had the opportunity (with similar solar activity in 1988) to make such observations as part of the Astro Club at my school. Today, I only try to photograph the results of coronal plasma eruptions through auroras. What I feel so sorry about in this network is the fact that every silly red locomotive gets commented on, but such a gem, which is photographed with a lot of effort, goes unnoticed :-(
I have a request. Please continue with your photo eyepiece! I also have three wishes. What fascinated me back then was observing Jupiter with its equatorial clouds, Saturn with its ring, and simply the Moon. Can you photograph that with your optics? That would be great.
Best regards, André

Hello Gerd,
I immediately recognized the "Struwwelpeter," this time with "I-dots" on top, nice picture, I like it!

Hello Gerd,
that was a beautiful fireworks display.
I have never managed to capture such shots, so I admire them all the more.
Regards, Christine
Gerd Wiese 20.12.2012 20:32 20.12.2012 20:32
...yes, really the fireworks of the city & the fire department are always a local event, with only a few pictures turning out well. Special settings for this image were aperture 8 at 2.5 s and ISO 400 (otherwise f 9 at 2.5 s & ISO 100). As you can tell from the shutter speed, this only works with a tripod, remote release, "stabilization off" & a bit of luck. Thanks Christine for looking in. Regards GW

my windows face east-south, and I naturally make full use of this advantage. Thanks for your interest.

Hello Gerd
By chance, I see this beautiful image. Incredible, these colorful flags on the ship and the matching rainbow – like in a painting.

Thank you for the comment and a belated thanks to Helmut. Unfortunately, I didn't have a "wide-angle" with me.

nice subject - well spotted, I like it, it reminds me of "Struwwelpeter".

Hi Rainer,
I like the comparison with "Struwwelpeter," I'll adopt that from now on as the name for the beach willow.
