Hello Christine,
this is a kind of art object and I discover these formations everywhere in the Dolomites. The most beautiful and largest I saw in the Val di Fiemme. On my return trip from Italy to Germany, I also found these formations in Bavaria.
A wooden frame is built for this. Inside, a hose is laid through which water constantly flows out. These giant ice formations here were additionally sprayed from the outside. It reminded me of my childhood. Back then, we crafted such formations in miniature with saltwater.

It's just a pity that the entire sky didn't fit into the picture. On the other side of the sun, there were almost the same cloud formations; the whole thing looked like a huge fan.
But I'm glad that you like the picture anyway.

very atmospheric sunset, I also really like all the other pictures of Lake Geneva and they remind me of a wonderful holiday in Vevey in 1987, when I got to know the stunningly beautiful area around the lake.

Unter grossen Schneemassen! Als wir einen Spaziergang durch Leukerbad machten war die Sicht oft verdeckt da die Schneemengen links und rechts von mir einfach zu hoch waren!Es liegen überall im Wallis zwischen zwei und drei Meter Schnee! Bis das dieses Frühjahr getaut ist wird einige Zeit vergehen....
