The photo shows the last of the ten information boards of the Heinrich Heine Trail. On this board, which is located on the Brocken, you can read a part of the book 'The Harz Journey' (1824) by Heinrich Heine, in which he talks about the Brocken.
The text reads: 'The Brocken is a German. With German thoroughness, it shows us, clearly and distinctly, like a giant panorama, the many hundreds of small towns and villages, mostly lying to the north, and all around the mountains, forests, rivers infinitely far.'

Campen Lighthouse. The tripod, red and white painted steel leg construction was built starting in 1888 and completed in 1892. At a height of 65 meters, it is the tallest lighthouse in Germany. In the engine room of the tower, a MAN DM 20 diesel engine has been in service since 1906.

For over 100 years, the 28-meter-high Hiddensee Lighthouse in the highlands of Kloster has been the island's landmark. It was built in 1887/1888 on a thorn bush hill rising 72 meters above sea level and has been in operation since 1888.

The village of Mintard in the Ruhr Valley - part of Mülheim since 1975 - could lead a peaceful existence if not for the traffic roaring high above the rooftops on the A 52 over the valley (November 21, 1998).

A small storm broke out here at the Hansesail in Rostock. However, a friendly landlady let us have coffee in her historically furnished parlor, which otherwise seemed to be just an exhibition room, so it wasn't so bad after all. On this day, it was difficult to find a seat in cafes. Here I tried to capture the situation (bright foreground, dark background). 2005
