No. 41 - Königsburg Ruins. The Königsburg is a noble castle above Königshütte. It dates back to the 13th/14th century. Today, some remains of the Königsburg can still be seen. From here, there is a wonderful view over Königshütte to the Brocken massif. 

No. 39 - Felswerke Open-Pit Mine. Checkpoint 39 is located at the viewpoint overlooking the Elbingerode open-pit mine. It is a mandatory stop for the "Harzer Steiger". Conclusion: The open-pit mine is as old as I am. Since I grew up with the "hole," the scale is nothing special to me. However, anyone standing at the edge of the quarry for the first time is overwhelmed by the gigantic dimensions of the limestone industry's exploitation around Rübeland and Elbingerode. 

No. 42 - Trogfurther Bridge. The stamp station is located on the wall of the Königshütte Dam. Until the construction of the dam (1952-1956), the old Trogfurther Bridge was located here. The dam is part of the Rappbode Dam system. From here, part of the Bode water is diverted through a tunnel into the Rappbode Dam. 

No. 85 - Brückeneck (geological educational trail Wernigerode). Stamp point 85 is located at a highly interesting water feature in the Thumkuhlental. It is a mandatory stop on the "Harzer Steiger" route. Conclusion: It is truly impressive what the Wernigerode History Association has created here. The fully functional water feature in the Thumkuhlental is the highlight of the geological educational trail and fascinates not only mining enthusiasts. 

No. 88 - Hoher Kleef Viewing Pavilion. On the Hoher Kleef in Rübeland, there is a pavilion from which you have a beautiful view over the Harz and the Bodetal. It is part of the Hexenstieg and the Paths of German Emperors and Kings. 

No. 89 - Schornsteinberg. The Schornsteinberg towers above Rübeland. On the site of today's outdoor swimming pool, there was a charcoal production facility of the Rübeland / Zorge ironworks. The chimney of the charcoal production was carved into the mountain. At today's checkpoint, there was a 6 m high exhaust shaft. The steep ascent is worthwhile for the beautiful view over Rübeland alone. Especially railway enthusiasts will enjoy it here when the heavy freight trains roar through the valley. 

No. 120 - Elfenstein. The Elfenstein is a granite rock above Bündheim. Nearby is the Harzburger Fenster. A very beautiful viewpoint that will soon be better than the actual destination. 

No. 122 - Cross of the German East. The Cross of the German East was inaugurated on June 24, 1950, as a symbol of homeland on the Uhlenberg near Bad Harzburg. It is surrounded by the coats of arms of the regional associations. By looking at the coats of arms of the regional associations, you can test your geographical knowledge of the lost German eastern territories. Furthermore, from the Uhlenberg, there is a beautiful view over Bad Harzburg and the northern Harz foothills. 

A total of 222 stamp stations have been set up at attractive hiking destinations and sights between Sangerhausen and Seesen. The goal is to earn the title of "Harz Hiking Emperor."
