The colors of the flowers attracted me irresistibly, Emil Nolde noted in his biography. The garden developed into a magnificent flower garden until his death, which his gardener Thomas Börnsen cared for until 1976. He was also the one who left a planting plan that still makes it possible today to maintain Nolde's private retirement home in his spirit.
