IN THE BASALT CRATER "BLAUER STEIN" NEAR KUCHHAUSEN/WESTERWALD Just a few hundred meters above the small Westerwald village of KUCHHAUSEN, the last residence of the world-famous photographer AUGUST SANDER known for his photographic work, lies in a forest area the approximately 100-meter-long oval basalt formation "BLAUER STEIN," where in the NEOZOIC, 5-25 million years ago, lava rose through a vent in the bedrock and solidified into angular columns....
