Garzweiler II open-pit mine, located quite close to the outskirts of the municipality of Jüchen in the Rhein-Kreis Neuss, shows this bucket-wheel excavator busy reshaping the landscape from the base floor (approx. 99 m below the pit edge). In a few years, once the soil has settled, agriculture can be resumed on the mined-out area, and in a few decades, buildings can be constructed again. 24.12.2011
