Also in October 2016, the lake in the South Park in Schneverdingen is once again a feast for the eyes. Larger bodies of water are usually hard to find in the Lüneburg Heath; although many small rivers originate here, there are no large, extensive waters.

Winter in the Pietzmoor February 2014, this shot is typical for the raised bog near Schneverdingen, in the last century peat was still being extracted here, on the right & left of the current water surfaces narrow-gauge tracks on narrow dikes transported the peat to the collection points.
