Also in October 2016, the lake in the South Park in Schneverdingen is once again a feast for the eyes. Larger bodies of water are usually hard to find in the Lüneburg Heath; although many small rivers originate here, there are no large, extensive waters.

The yellow-flowering white mustard will probably delight us until the first frost. The cover crop used as green manure will be plowed under in the spring. Field near Wesseloh in the Heidekreis, late October 2016.

Water landscape in the Heidegarten Schneverdingen, October 2014. The common heather in the Lüneburg Heath Nature Park has long since faded, but the colorful cultivated varieties in the Heidegarten delight us well into autumn.

View of a flooded peat pit. After years of extraction, nature is now being given the chance to regenerate a peat bog. Here in the Pietzmoor, well-developed hiking trails and wooden boardwalks lead through this beautiful landscape. I took the photo during a holiday stay on 24.10.2011.
