The circular trail above the Totengrund in the Lüneburg Heath Nature Reserve near Wilsede. The Totengrund, alongside the Wilseder Berg, is the most visited place in the heath. Here at the Totengrund, the foundation for the Lüneburg Heath Nature Park was laid; it was intended as building land for wealthy Hamburg residents. Pastor Bode collected money and transferred the area into a foundation, gradually creating the nature park. Today it is managed by the VNP. By the way, the viewpoint, which surely remains memorable to the many visitors, is located on the left side, opposite this location; the village of Wilsede is also there... End of October 2011

In the picture is the path into the Heidetal; the hill shown is the Stattberg near Niederhaverbeck. It is said to mean hill instead of mountain, according to the legend.

Wilseder Berg in its winter coat. A very rare sight, white winters are scarce in northern Germany. When it does snow and the sun shines, you have to hurry, because then a footpath of at least 3 km lies ahead of us. Motor vehicles are not allowed in the Lüneburg Heath Nature Reserve. The nearest parking lots are located in Einem, Niederhaverbeck, and Oberhaverbeck. February 2021.
