Youth hostel Fljotsdalur in June 1997, the floor was extremely tilted due to an earthquake. The hostel is located 30 km south of the Hekla volcano, notorious for its strong earthquakes before eruptions and the release of toxic gas clouds; a certain radius around the mountain is uninhabited.
