This photo was taken between Wernigerode and Drei-Annen-Hohne on the hiking trail next to the track of the Harz narrow-gauge railway (visible at the bottom left of the image) at the "Steinerne Renne," on 06.06.2006.

As you can already see, there are many hiking trips at the Oderteich :) I took the photo on 06.06.2006. The Oderteich is a beautiful excursion destination in the High Harz!

This photo shows the "New Goetheweg" from Torfhaus or Schierke. The exact location is on the railway parallel path just under 3 kilometers before the Brocken. From here, you walk over rough terrain along wooden boardwalks and large stones for 1.4 kilometers alongside the railway track (where only steam-powered trains run to the Brocken) until you reach the paved road. Very unsuitable for strollers and a nerve-wracking experience for cyclists, as you have to carry the bike constantly. By the way, the steam locomotives run to the Brocken every 45 minutes between April and October, and I believe every 90 minutes during the winter schedule.

A very beautiful hiking trail from Schierke to the Brocken. In Schierke, you leave the town via the "Sandbrinkstraße" and after some time reach this beautiful spot, where a small bridge crosses the "Kalte Bode." After a while, you arrive at the Dreieckigen Pfahl or the Goetheweg and the railway parallel path that leads to the Brocken. It is well signposted :) The signage of hiking trails in the Harz is very good. At least the ones I have seen so far.

November 30, 2005, was very cold and heavily snowed in the High Harz, as you can clearly see. I took this photo on the Brocken road from Schierke just before the Brocken. The High Harz is impressive with a lot of snow!

Brockenstraße on 30.11.2005. Don't the different snow accumulations look beautiful? Along with the fitting sky. The spot is just before the Brocken on the Brockenstraße, about 2.5 kilometers from the Brocken.

The Brocken Railway on the deeply snow-covered Goetheweg, 1 kilometer before the Brocken. On that day, November 30, 2005, it was very cold, around -7°C on the Brocken at nearly 12 o'clock!

The Goetheweg just past Torfhaus towards the Brocken. On the left, the track for cross-country skiers, the ski trail, on the right the hiking path. Very impressive when the High Harz is deeply snow-covered. By the way, the elevation there is between 800 and 820 meters, I don't know the exact height, but Torfhaus is at 810 meters elevation (I don't know exactly, but at least 800 meters). Taken on 30.11.2005

Looks very cold. It was. -7°C at 12 o'clock. Visible, at least barely recognizable in the cold, is the Brocken station of the Harz narrow-gauge railway on the Brocken at an altitude of 1,125 meters. The Brocken summit itself is 1,142 meters. The "Brocken" sign is also frozen with snow. Somehow looks impressive :) But it was very cold. In the top left, you can just make out the transmission mast heavily iced over. The icy day was November 30, 2005.

Doesn't just look cold, -7° and icy wind are also very cold. The photo shows the inn "Zum Brockenwirt." Apart from the Brocken Museum and the hotel, probably the only warm place that day. I took the photo on the Brocken on 30.11.2005.
