The Hüller Bach in Bochum-Hordel (May 18, 2007). Typical appearance of the streams in the Emscher region: as a result of subsidence in some areas, water drainage was no longer guaranteed. At the beginning of the last century, the Emscher Cooperative intervened and had the Emscher and its tributaries canalized. The streams were straightened, laid in concrete channels, and embanked.
