if you look closely at the vegetation on soils, you can find a whole little world there. The moss in the photo looks like it could belong to the genus Rhytidiadelphus or be a type of wreath moss or wrinkle moss. It is probably Rhytidiadelphus squarrosus (springy wreath moss, also called springy wrinkle moss), which is commonly found in forests and wet meadows everywhere, but a precise identification is only possible with a microscope and good books. Recently, a newspaper reported that 900 different moss species have been identified in Bavaria. That is a lifetime task in itself!
