Hiking trails at Schanze 14 near Danewerk west of Schleswig. Schanze 14 is one of a total of 29 redoubts in the Danewerk defense system. Like the other redoubts, it was dismantled by Austrian troops after they took over the Danewerk without a fight in the first days of February 1864 (following the retreat of the Danish army to positions at the Düppeler Schanzen in North Schleswig).
