AUTUMN ON THE SIEG (NIEDERSCHELDEN)
The SIEG leaves the Siegerland here and flows towards the Rhineland-Palatinate towns of Betzdorf and Wissen....
A kingfisher has chosen this idyllic landscape as its territory and often darts swiftly over the water with its blue plumage... 15.11.20

ON THE KYRILL TRAIL IN THE SIEGERLAND ROTHAAR MOUNTAINS
Only a few minutes during the night of January 18 to 19, 2007, were enough for the hurricane KYRILL to transform a 100-year-old spruce stand with some beeches and Douglas firs in the SIEGEN-WITTGENSTEIN forestry district into a chaos of fallen trees, upturned root plates, and shattered trunks...
In this forestry area alone, over 2.5 million trunks fell victim to the storm.

It was decided to preserve the forest over an area of about 3 hectares exactly as the hurricane left it. Today, here on 12.7.2018, one can impressively experience and hike through how powerfully and vividly the development has progressed over 11 years solely through the force of nature... extremely impressive

LAHN SOURCE IN THE SIEGERLAND ROTHAAR MOUNTAINS
Just as romantic as along its entire course until it flows into the RHINE at NIEDERLAHNSTEIN after 218 kilometers, the Lahn also reveals itself at its source in a spring pond in the Siegerland ROTHAAR MOUNTAINS, surrounded by pasturelands for grazing cattle...
only a few kilometers away are the sources of two other significant rivers, the SIEG and the EDER, here on 11.7.2018
